Hello kitty and Minnie mouse cake...

An order from Kelly for her daughter Emma's 1st birthday. She wanted 2 small cakes, one hello kitty and the other one minnie mouse for her daughter who likes both characters.

So I got toppers for both and decorated them in pink and white as Kelly wanted the specific colour theme.
Love how the hello kitty cake turns out sweetly with the lace and the pearls.

A cuter look for the minnie mouse cake.

Hope Kelly likes the designs for both the cake and Emma had memorable 1st birthday!

Cars cake and cupcakes set..

I think I did quite a few Cars cake and think most are ordered by Sheryl as both her sons love cars! I think I'm going to run out of ideas for Cars cake design soon for her. LOL! Check out the cars cake that I have done for her below.

So this time it's the older brother Ranen's birthday again and he's turning 4 this year and he is still loving cars. I ordered icing image for the cupcakes and for the cake I tried a different design and here it is.

Happy birthday Ranen!

Pooh and friends cake...

Another order from Hui Zhen who wanted to order a Pooh and friend cake for her son Dayrius' 1st birthday! She had previously ordered quite a few cakes and cupcakes from us and I'm really thankful that she likes our cakes!

So this time round, I ordered some rice paper images of pooh and friends online and then cut them out to paste it on the cake and it turned out quite well! I have rabbit and tigger on the top tier and piglet, eeyore and christopher on the bottom. And pooh being the main lead, on the topmost of the cake.

Rainbow cake on the top tier.
Hope Dayrius had a great 1st birthday!

Elmo and friends cake and cupcakes...

This is an order from Eve who had ordered a rainbow care bear cake for her daughter Jeraine's 1st yr birthday last year. So this year, Jeraine is 2 and Eve is back to order her birthday cake from us! Thanks for the continuous support! Really grateful to have customers coming back to get their cakes from us! Check out her rainbow care bear cake from last year below.

http://jembakes.blogspot.sg/2013/11/rainbow-care-bear-cake.html

So this time round she wanted elmo theme cake and cupcakes, one for home and one for school celebration. As the little girl is allergy to dairy products, Eve wanted cake that does not have butter in it as she wanted the girl to have a taste of her own cake. Luckily, we do have recipe without butter and the little girl can eat her own cake at ease. So first up is the celebration at home with elmo and friends cupcakes.

Eve is very creative to come up with her own cupcake stand with elmo designs on it and the cupcakes look just nice on it.

Next up is an Elmo cake for school celebration. It's quite an easy cake to do and nice Eve took a photo of Jeraine at her school's birthday celebration and sent it to me.

Looking cute in her princess dress!
Happy Birthday Jeraine and hope you enjoyed your cake!

Wayne turns 6!

How time flies and Wayne is turning 6! Still remembered when he was born I baked his 1st day cake to welcome him into this world. And then for the next 12 months, I baked him a cake monthly till he reach 1 years old. But however at that time I was not into decorating cakes yet and those cakes now looks terrible to me. LOL. It was until Wayne was 4 when I make him a well-decorated cake for his birthday and since then I have been tasked with this job. But nevertheless, I'm more than happy to take up this job as it is always a joy to see his eyes sparkles when he sees the cake!

This year, his mummy decided to have his birthday party at Port of Lost Wonders in Sentosa as the boy loves water play (I think his eyes sparkles more when he sees water than when he sees the cake). LOL. So, the theme for this year's cake is beach theme.

For the lower tier of the cake, I created the underwater feel with seaweeds and various type of fishes.

I've did beach theme cupcakes before so this time round it was quite easy for me. I created the "sand" feel using ground peanuts and then placed the slippers, towel, shorts, etc on it.

All ready for the beach party!

It was chaotic with lots of kids at his party! All his classmates in his class turned up and some came with their siblings as well. A total of more than 30 kids at the party (not including other kids at the water play area as well). Wayne was so excited to go into the water and play when he reached and being the nice and young and energetic xiao yi, I volunteered to go into the "battlefield" and play with him and Ulyss first before his friends arrived. It was fun but super tiring! But the birthday boy seems to have unlimited amount of energy, running rounds and rounds without stopping. How nice to be young! LOL! Luckily his friends arrived one after another and once he have his playmates to play with, I am able to retire and rest my old bones.

The birthday boy!
Finally it was cake cutting and the kids all gathered around the cake and it was hard to take a picture of the birthday boy without any heads popping in. LOL.

Wayne and his friends.
And it's a rainbow cake!
The colour turns out just right!
And again I forgot to take a picture with my masterpiece before it was gone! Left with a picture of the aftermath.

The cake and cupcakes were well received and the kids love it (especially the sweet fondant on top). LOL. It was a really big cake (6" and 10") with 20 cupcakes but at the end of the party only left with 1/3 of the bottom tier cake. There is at least 30 kids and 30+ adults in the party so this portion of cake is just right for the number of people.

Wayne was the first one to start playing and was the last one to end. He is really super energetic but he got quite dark from the sun as well. Really glad that he enjoyed his party with his friends as next year they will all be going to different primary schools. Oh my! My nephew is going to pri 1 next year! What a big boy he is now! LOL! Continue to grow strong and healthy and Xiao yi loves you always! Happy birthday Wayne!

Crayon Shin Chan cupcakes...

Another set of crayon shin chan cupcakes and this time round it's an order from Liting. The requirements are simple where she wanted rainbow, the dog, "happy birthday" wording and of course crayon shin chan face on the cupcakes.

Hope she likes the cupcakes!

Superheroes cupcakes...

An order from Elaine who wanted to order a set of superheroes cupcakes comprising of spiderman, batman, hulk, thor, superman, wonder woman, etc. I'm not really a fan of the superheroes and the only movies I've watched are spiderman and batman. But I still have an idea of how they look like and with the help of the pictures that Elaine sent me, the cupcakes turned out quite decently. LOL.

Can you name the heroes?
She specifically wanted to change the superman "s" into the initials "sk". Hope she likes the cupcakes!

Ninja turtle cupcakes...

Another repeat order from Cindy who ordered a Ninja turtle cake for her son last year. Check out the cake below:

http://jembakes.blogspot.sg/2013/11/ninja-turtle-cake-lightning-mcqueen.html

So this time round she wanted Ninja turtle cupcakes instead. Travis must have liked Ninja turtles a lot! LOL! Therefore, I made a mixture of 2D and 3D ninja turtle faces on the cupcakes.

Happy birthday Travis! Hope you like the Ninja turtles! And Cindy said that the kids in school loves them too!

Thomas train cake...

Another train cake this time round and it is specifically Thomas train cake ordered by May Ee for her son Chee Yang's 4th birthday! This is another challenge for me in cake sculpting and the previous train cake that I did had some flaws in it and therefore this time round, I wanted to learn from the mistake and perfect the train cake. Check out the previous rainbow train cake below.

http://jembakes.blogspot.sg/2013_12_01_archive.html

This time round I used a 10" cake as well and cut it into long and short pieces to form up the train shape.

Train head and the carriage.
I used a whole sheet of fondant to cover the train head and it fits perfectly and neatly as compared to last time. I wrapped the carriage separately and I also cut out a dent in the carriage as May Ee wanted it to contain M&Ms which her son is super excited about. Somehow I think the train head looks like a car to me, Maybe next time I can venture into sculpting cars. LOL!

So with the structure in place I started decorating the train accordingly to how Thomas train looks like. And here is the final product!

I'm really satisfied with this creation and the structure is much stable compared to the last. And it really looks like Thomas train with the colours and stuffs. Not to forget the M&Ms surprise in the carriage! Think all Thomas train fans will love it!

Happy birthday Chee Yang and have fun with your Thomas train!

Mickey mouse cake...

An order from Meliza who wanted a Mickey mouse cake for her son, Nathaniel's 1st birthday! Countless of 1st birthday cake I have done and I'm really glad that I can contribute to someone's important milestone in life.

As she wanted the mickey mouse head only, I suggested her to get 3 flavours for each of the ears and the face. This is one cake that looks simple on the outside but a lot of effort is done on the inside. Definitely spent more time baking than decorating as have to bake 3 different cakes and to ensure that all cakes are of the same height. To make things more challenging, Meliza wanted a rainbow cake as the "face" of Mickey and as rainbow cake is taller than usual cakes, I have to make sure that the other 2 cakes are able to match up to its height.

Hope Nathaniel like his 1st birthday cake!

Mixture of characters cupcakes...

How time flies and it's been more than a year since I started this baking business and it's always nice to see repeat customers after a year ordering cakes from me for their special ones again. This time round, Shaun wanted to order a mixture of character cupcakes for his wife's birthday (I assumed those characters are the characters that his wife likes). Last year, he ordered a minion cake for his wife who likes minion. What a sweet husband! Check it out below!

http://jembakes.blogspot.sg/2013_10_01_archive.html

So he sent me the pictures of all the characters and I tried to do accordingly. Some of it is quite a challenge for me such as Mickey and Minnie which I think that it's very easy to go wrong with the shape of the face. Luckily I managed to dig out a Mickey chop sis bought for me when she went disneyland. But I think there is still room for improvement on the Mickey and Minnie. LOL.

Can you name all the characters? Hope Shaun and his wife had a wonderful time together!

Line character cupcakes...

It's been a while since I last posted. But it's not due to the lack of orders thus no updates, nor is it due to me having a lot of orders, that's why no time to update the blog. It is simply due to the fact that the broadband at home is down for a whole month! Thanks to sis and her bf for their magical hands, the broadband is revived and thus I'm active on this blog again!

Enough side-tracking, this order is again from Hui Zhen who wanted to order the line characters, brownie and cory cupcakes. Those who are using the line app would be familiar with these characters and their super cute stickers. Thus, I just created their faces with different expressions that can be seen in the line stickers.

Hope Rae likes the cupcakes!
